Government & INC Agreed to Create Autonomous Region for Iglesia ni Cristo

INC Central Temple
The Aquino Administration and the leadership of the politically influential religious sect Iglesia ni Cristo agreed to create the Autonomous Region for Iglesia ni Manalo or ARI. The agreement was arrived at after hours of negotiations on Sunday night to resolve the protest rally by the sect’s members along EDSA.

INC general evangelist Bienvenido Santiago announced the creation of the autonomous region over church-owned television channel Net 25.

“This is the long term solution for our problems with the INC. The ARI will bring peace to our Nation by giving the INC the legal mandate to deal with their family problems,” Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said during a press briefing at MalacaƱang Palace.

The agreement for the creation of ARI was signed by President Benigno Aquino and the INC Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo.

According to the agreement, the capital of the INC autonomous region is the sect’s central temple and the surrounding 5 barangays in Quezon City. The Philippine Arena and 20 surrounding barangays in Bulacan, and all barangays in the Philippines with 51% of the population affiliated to the INC will be included in the ARI.

There are provisions in the agreement that gives ARI its own police, military, and coast guard. Separate Commission on Audit and Commission on Election will be created within ARI.

The agreement also guarantees that high-level positions will be reserved for INC members in the important government agencies like the DILG, DOJ, Bureau of Customs, BIR, and Defense Department.

“The ARI will bring peace and prosperity with our kapatid na Iglesia. At hindi lang po to para sa pakinabang ng INC ngunit para sa lahat. Hindi na tayo matratrapik sa EDSA at hindi na tayo maabala sa problemang pampamilya ng INC” President Aquino said in a statement.

INC to Build INC People Power Shrine at EDSA-Shaw

INC People Power Shrine
The leadership of the politically influential religious sect Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) will build a temple at EDSA – Shaw Boulevard to mark their so-called INC People Power.

The plan was revealed during a program Saturday night much to the glee of INC protesters.

“Plano po naming ilagay yung templo sa tapat ng Shangri La”, according to INC spokesman Edwin Zabala referring to the building currently occupied by an ukay-ukay store.

The temple will be 30 storeys high and will feature larger-than-life murals depicting the persecution of the INC under the Aquino Administration and their eventual victory. Zabala also revealed that the names of those who joined the protest will be inscribed on the temple walls “tulad ng pagkakasulat ng pangalan nila sa Aklat ng Buhay” (like the way their names are written on the Book of Life).

Members of the INC trooped to Padre Faura Street in Thursday to protest Justice Secretary Leila de Lima’s handling of the kidnapping case filed by the expelled INC minister Isaias Samson, Jr. Against the high-ranking members of the sect’s Sanggunian (central council).

The protesters moved from Padre Faura and occupied EDSA – Shaw Boulevard after receiving orders from the INC leadership causing heavy traffic and angry motorists on a Friday night.

Zabala also said that “voluntary” contributions will be collected from INC members for the building of the new monument / temple.

NCRPO Bans Shirts, Jeans and any Clothing for Mall-goers

A robber using his clothes to hide stolen goods.
MANILA - After a ban on buying hammers and wearing of caps, shoppers will now be told to go naked in malls to prevent robberies, a police official said yesterday.

“From now on, the wearing of t-shirts, shorts, jeans, skirt or any kind of clothing would be banned in malls. Those wearing it would be forced to take it off and leave them outside the malls,” National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said in an interview.

Mall owners will display signs against the wearing of clothes at entrances while security guards will strip mall-goers of their clothing, he added.

The decision was arrived at during a series of meetings with mall operators and security managers in Metro Manila, he said.

Valmoria sought the meetings to come up with ideas how to enhance security in malls and prevent robberies like the one committed at SM North EDSA two Sundays ago.

In the meetings, the participants observed that robbers used their clothes to hide shoplifted items.

In majority of shoplifting cases, the robbers used the pockets of their jackets, shirts and pants to hide noodles, canned goods and other items. It is estimated that billions of pesos were lost by grocery and mall-operators due to shoplifting spree of their customers.

NCRPO and mall-owners are also considering the banning of security guards due to many cases of “bantay salakay”, Valmoria said.
