August 26 Not a Holiday

Manila, Philippines – Deputy Presidential Spokesperson declared that August 26 is not a holiday anymore.

“Filipino workers have too many holidays last week,” said Abigail Valte, “We need to move the economy forward. Magtrabaho naman kayo.”

Valte denied that the declaration was made to fizzle out the anti-pork barrel protest rally that will be held by various groups tomorrow. She reiterated that the cancellation of the holiday is for the sake of the economy.

“We are not afraid of the protest rally at Luneta tomorrow,” Valte explained, “The president already promised that changes will be made in the system. I believe that the people will accept his promises hook line and sinker like they did when he ran during the presidential election.”

August 26 was previously declared as a holiday by the virtue of Proclamation No. 459 as National Heroes Day.
